Magical Mangos
On Thursday 26th February Eden welcomes Arsene Sourabie Baperma, a member of WOUOL, a development association of 2,000 rural members in western Burkina Faso, who grow and process Fairtrade dried fruit and nuts. As well as growing mangos himself, Arsene trains farmers and mango processors who work in the association’s drying factories.
Burkina Faso is one of the poorest countries in the world, with more than 80% of the population relying on subsistence agriculture. Come along and meet Arsene to find out how Fairtrade affects him and his community. Arsene will be by the Mango exhibit in the Rainforest Biome from approximately 10.30am to 12.30pm. Drop in for a chat and maybe some Fairtrade mango! Arsene’s visit is part of the Fairtrade Foundation’s Producers’ Tour.

Win a Fairtrade Easter Egg!
On Friday 27th February St Augustine of Hippo church will be holding its annual Fairtrade Café. Come along and sample Fairtrade products for yourself and have the chance to win a Fairtrade Easter Egg. St Augustine of Hippo Church is in Woodland Rd, St Austell (Tel: 01726 73838).
Eden and Fair’s Fair in the Town Centre
Saturday 28th February sees Eden bringing Fairtrade into St Austell town centre. Along with Eden will be a Fair’s Fair party run by our very own Kim Mathews. Have a look and see that Fairtrade isn’t just chocolate, coffee and fruit. All accompanied by fun and music.
Fairtrade Poster Competition
Winning entry by Kelly Marshall, aged 11, in the Fairtrade St Austell poster competition
Fairtrade St Austell Steering Group ran a poster competition in conjunction with local schools and we are very pleased to announce that Kelly Marshall (aged 11) from Sandy Hill CP School won the 6 to 11 age group and Charlotte Kiddy (aged 13) from Penrice won the 12 to 16 age group. We had nearly 200 entries and it was a very hard decision to make.
Each winner receives a Fairtrade Goody Bag, family admission tickets to Eden and a chance to meet Arsene Sourabie Baperma. The winning entries will be on display at the Engine House throughout Fairtrade Fortnight. All the other entrants receive a Fairtrade Dubble Bar kindly donated by Divine Chocolate.
