Fairtrade St Austell needs your help...

We have worked hard, with the support of local people, to gain Fairtrade Town status for St Austell, and we are very proud of this achievement as it brings customers more choice as well as giving producers a fair return. In order to keep our status as a Fairtrade Town, it is vital that we continue to promote fair trade and encourage more shops, businesses, schools and individuals to make Fairtrade produce a part of their lives.

However, some of our core group have moved away or have had to take a back seat, and we need more people to be actively involved. If you think you can help, we would love to hear from you. Being a part of this exciting movement for change wouldn’t require more than a few hours a month of your time, you would be able to help plan future events with a friendly and committed group of people, and it would enable us to continue to play our part in supporting producers, their families and their communities in a world in which the gap between rich and poor is still vast.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2010: What’s Your Swap?

Big Swap logo

This year, for Fairtrade Fortnight, the Fairtrade Foundation is asking the UK to swap their usual buys for Fairtrade ones. Whether it's tea or coffee, wine or chocolate, fruit or flowers – even down to socks and underwear – everyone can think of something they can swap for a Fairtrade version.

When you've decided what you'd like to swap, register your swap at thebigswap.org.uk.

Here in St Austell we are very lucky to have so many shops selling Fairtrade goods, so it should be very easy to make your swap. So have a look in our directory, and start swapping!

For more information or to download a Big Swap poster, go to thebigswap.org.uk.
